This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a State/Municipal Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for programming and construction of traffic control improvements at five intersections under the 1998-1999 Surface Transportation Program-Safety. This resolution also authorizes and directs the City comptroller to establish the appropriate sub-account for the preliminary engineering work for this project.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has been advised by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) that 90 percent Federal funding is available for the improvement of traffic control facilities at five locations under the 1998-1999 Surface Transportation Program-Safety; and
 
Whereas, Preliminary approval has been received from the WISDOT, along with a State/Municipal Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee for programming and construction of the traffic control improvements at five locations with 90 percent Federal funds; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works (CPW) is hereby authorized and directed to execute the State/Municipal Agreement for programming and construction of the traffic control improvements at five locations under the 1998-1999 Surface Transportation Program-Safety, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council resolution and is incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the CPW is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with the WISDOT pertaining to the cost participation for the installation and/or modification of traffic control facilities in conjunction with the improvements of the aforementioned project; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the CPW is hereby authorized and directed to install the traffic control facilities necessary in conjunction with the aforementioned project, following the approval of the traffic control contract the cost of which will be included in a future resolution; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to proceed with preliminary engineering for the traffic control improvements at various locations listed below:

Further Resolved, That upon acceptance of this grant agreement, the City Comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to create within the Capital Improvements Fund, Grant and Aid Projects, the necessary account for preliminary engineering for this project (Expenditure and Revenue), and transfer to this account the amount required under the grant agreement and City Account Policy, but not to exceed a 10 percent increase in those amounts reserved for the Grantor's Share and City Share and transfer the corresponding offsetting estimated revenue as follows:
