Resolution authorizing the Village of Brown Deer to provide water service to a property in Mequon.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to enter into an agreement for the provision of water service to 6000 W. County Line Rd. in Mequon by the Village of Brown Deer Water Public Utility.

Body

Whereas, Pa Yeng and Moua Vang, the owners of the residential property located at 6000 W. County Line Rd. in the City of Mequon have requested the Brown Deer Water Public Utility to furnish water at retail through the distribution system of the Village of Brown Deer; and

 

Whereas, The property located at 6000 W. County Line Rd. in the City of Mequon cannot be practicably be served by the Mequon Water Utility or the Milwaukee Water Works; and

 

Whereas, The City of Mequon, by its Water Utility Commission, approved the request for water service from the Village of Brown Deer Water Public Utility at its August 8, 2024, meeting; and

 

Whereas, The Village of Brown Deer, by its Village Board, approved the Agreement for Water Service at its October 7, 2024, meeting; and

 

Whereas, Both the Village of Brown Deer and the City of Mequon are wholesale water customers of the Milwaukee Water Works; and

 

Whereas, The wholesale water service agreement between the Village of Brown Deer and the City of Milwaukee prohibits the Village of Brown Deer from reselling water without the permission of the City of Milwaukee; and

 

Whereas, The Milwaukee Water Works will receive revenue at wholesale rates whether the customer is served by the Mequon Water Utility or the Village of Brown Deer Water Public Utility; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, That the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to execute the Agreement for Water Service attached to this file; and be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Milwaukee Water Works shall file the agreement with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
