This substitute resolution appropriates $30,000 from the Common Council Contingent Fund to the Outside Counsel/Expert Witness Fund Special Purpose Account for the purposes of retaining outside counsel Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris & Rieselbach, S.C. to study the feasibility of creating a new pension system.

BODY:

Whereas, The Common Council in Common Council File No. 971781 appropriated $39,000 from the City Attorney's Outside Counsel/Expert Witness Fund Special Purpose Account for the purpose of funding an amendment to the contract between the City and the law firm of Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris & Rieselbach, S.C. authorizing the firm to act as legal consultant and retain an actuarial consultant to establish a new pension plan for City employees; and

Whereas, Billings by Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris & Rieselbach, S.C. for outside counsel for the creation of a new pension plan through June of 1998, total $47,442 and are in excess of the appropriation by $ 8,842; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the sum of $30,000 be appropriated from the Contingent Fund (09-910-8000) to the Outside Counsel/Expert Witness Fund Special Purpose Account (01-023-8001) and to the City Attorney's Office Account (01-023-8002) to retain the law firm of Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris & Rieselbach, S.C., under the terms of the contract with the City, at a rate of no more than $185.00 per hour, for purposes of development of a new pension plan, such amounts to be expended upon the presentation of invoices for services to the Office of the City Attorney and meeting with the approval of the City Attorney.
