Title
Resolution amending Common Council Resolution File Number 230228, authorizing the City Clerk’s Office to accept and expend up to $100,000 annually in contributions to support Power Hour networking events.
Analysis
This resolution amends Common Council Resolution File Number 230228. Currently, the resolution designating Power Hour events as official City events does not authorize the acceptance or expenditure of contributions made to support Power Hour events. This resolution amends the resolution by authorizing the City Clerk’s Office to accept and expend up to $100,000 annually in contributions to support Power Hour networking events.

Whereas, On May 31, 2023 the Common Council adopted File Number 230228, designating the Power Hour networking events to be official City of Milwaukee events; and
Whereas, The inaugural Power Hour networking event took place on February 28, 2023, where attendees also participated in the City’s 7th Annual Black History Month program, entitled “Living Legends”, which celebrated key Milwaukee Black History makers; and
Whereas, The inaugural event was followed by a second event on May 18, 2023, hosted by Common Council members Milele A. Coggs, Mark Chambers, Jr., Khalif J. Rainey, Russell W. Stamper, II, Lamont Westmoreland, Andrea M. Pratt and Larresa Taylor; and
Whereas, The remaining 2023 Power Hour networking events will take place on September 14 and December 7 in the City Hall rotunda; and
Whereas, File Number 230228 did not authorize the acceptance and expenditure of contributions to support Power Hour networking events; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Resolution File Number 230228 is amended by inserting the following 2 “Further Resolved” clauses after the final “Further Resolved” clause:
“Further Resolved, That the City Clerk’s Office is authorized to accept and expend up to $100,000 annually in contributions to support Power Hour networking events; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenues from the Special Purpose Account-Contributions, Account Number 0001-2110-0001-D001-006300, and the Estimated Revenue Account for Contributions, Account Number 0001-2110-0001-009850 to the City Clerk’s Special Account 0001-1310-0001-DXXX-006300 and the Office of the City Clerk’s Estimated Revenue Account, Account Number 0001-1310-0001-009850 up to the amount of $100,000.”
