This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to participate in 30% of the preliminary engineering for the improvement of South 92nd Street (CTH "N") from West Howard Avenue to West Beloit Road. It also authorizes and directs the City Comptroller to create an appropriate subaccount for the project titled and authorizes the City Engineer to approve and make periodic payments upon request from Milwaukee County's cost for preliminary engineering. The City's share of the preliminary engineering costs for the proposed improvement including City review costs is $140,000. This resolution also specifies the City's intent to participate in the right-of-way acquisitions and construction for the improvement pending the availability of funds and further Common Council action.
 
 
BODY:
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, on March 4, 1986, adopted Resolution File Number 85-1859 approving Milwaukee County's County Trunk Highway Action Program and the County's financing policy of local municipalities participating in 30 percent of the costs of each County Trunk Highway improvement; and
 
Whereas, Milwaukee County, in continuation of improving County Trunk Highways as outlined in their Action Program, has informed the City of their proposal to initiate preliminary engineering in 1998 for the improvement of South 92nd Street (CTH "N") between West Howard Avenue and West Beloit Road scheduled for construction in 1999; and
 
Whereas, Milwaukee County has indicated that preliminary engineering activities for the improvement of South 92nd Street is contingent upon the City of Milwaukee agreeing to reimburse the County 30 percent of the preliminary engineering costs; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee is authorized to participate in 30 percent of the costs for preliminary engineering for the improvement of South 92nd Street (CTH "N") between West Howard Avenue and West Beloit Road, said participation to be effective upon the adoption date of this resolution; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to create within the Capital Grant and Aids Project fund, the appropriate subaccount for the project titled and transfer to this account the amount required for the City's preliminary engineering costs and the City's share of the County's preliminary engineering costs but not to exceed a 10 percent increase in the amount set aside as follows:

Further Resolved, That it is the intention of the City of Milwaukee to participate in 30 percent of right-of-way acquisition, if necessary, and construction costs for the South 92nd Street (CTH "N") between West Howard Avenue and West Beloit Road County Trunk Highway improvement project, contingent on the availability of funds and on the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee further approving the projects.
