Resolution approving Lease Agreement with Wisconsin Lake Schooner Education Association. (Port)
ANLS:
-Analysis- This resolution would approve Lease Agreement with Wisconsin Lake Schooner Education Association for use of the south face of Municipal North Pier and adjoining parking area of approximately 1.1 acre of land; approximately 5,900 square feet of office/storage space in the former Port Administration Building (500 N. Harbor Drive), together with adjoining yard area, for use as office, general activity and storage space in support of an educational sail training vessel and/or other vessels operated Tenant; and for activities in furtherance of the educational mission of the Tenant.
BODY:
Whereas, The Board of Harbor Commissioners has approved a Lease Agreement with Wisconsin Lake Schooner Education Association for use of the south face of the Municipal North Pier and adjoining parking area and office/storage space in the former Port Administration Building at 500 N. Harbor Drive, on the North Harbor Tract, City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, Wisconsin Lake Schooner Education Association will use the property to construct, maintain and operate a sail training vessel for the purpose of education of the general public; promotion of the Port and City of Milwaukee, the State of Wisconsin and public and private entities; and
Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee has a basic agreement on a "development" clause which would allow the City to develop the Municipal Pier property in the future subject to Wisconsin Lake Schooner Education Association being provided with a suitable Lakefront location for its operation, now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that said Common Council hereby ratifies and approves the Lease Agreement between the City of Milwaukee, by and through its Board of Harbor Commissioners and Wisconsin Lake Schooner Education Association for an initial term of ten (10) years commencing 1 January 1998 through 31 December 2007 and Tenant may request an extended term of one (1) five-year period, at an annual rental of $1.00 per year; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the designated officers of City Government and of said Board are hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement to carry out this purpose as prepared by the City Attorney's office.
