This resolution authorizes the sale of vacant, tax deed lots owned by the City of Milwaukee to the Housing Empowerment Development Company, LLC, for construction of two housing units.
BODY:
Whereas, The Housing Empowerment Development Company, LLC, wishes to acquire the vacant, tax deed lots located at 2801-03 and 2809 North 5th Street, Tax Roll Key Nos. 313-1922-6 and 313-1920-100-1, for $1.00 to build two residential units for owner-occupants; and
 
Whereas, The Housing Empowerment Development Company, LLC, has submitted construction plans to the Department of City Development, which are generally acceptable in terms of architectural detail and neighborhood compatibility; and
 
Whereas, The Housing Empowerment Development Company, LLC, will be responsible for costs associated with a certified survey; and
 
Whereas, The Department of City Development recommends sale of said lots for the amount of $1.00 and that closing of the sale is subject to the following contingencies:
 
1. Receipt of satisfactory evidence from Housing Empowerment Development Company, LLC, that sufficient funds are available to undertake and complete the proposed project.
 
2. A closing must be completed within twelve months from the date of adoption of this resolution by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee; and
 
Whereas, The City Plan Commission has approved the acceptance of said Offer, the sale of said lots to be consummated in the manner provided for in the sale of other tax deed lots pursuant to Section 304-49 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that said Offer is accepted and that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to perform such acts as may be required to consummate the sale of said lots and that the proceeds be credited to the Reserve For Tax Deficit Fund Account No. 02-211-2700.
