Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of the Lead Pilot Project Grant. (Health Department)
ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund the Lead Pilot Project Grant project from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $3,000,000. The purpose of the project is to combat lead-based paint hazards that contribute to childhood lead poisoning.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to combat lead-based paint hazards that contribute to childhood lead poisoning; and
Whereas, The Health Department was authorized approval for application to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development by Common Council File 960470; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from the 03/01/99 to 02/28/02 would cost $3,000,000; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was authorized by Common Council File 980688 and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent 1999 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Project fund, the following amount for the project titled Lead Pilot Project Grant:

Further Resolved, That these funds are appropriated to the Health Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 1999 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment;
3. Expend from the 1999 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff;
4. Enter into subcontracts and leases as detailed in the grant budget; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 1999 Positions Ordinance, C.C. File 980575, should be amended as follows:
