Title

Substitute resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the MASH Grant from the Medical College of Wisconsin.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the MASH (Milwaukee Alliance for Sexual Health) Grant from the Medical College of Wisconsin in the amount of $38,891 with a city share of $6,320 and a grantor share of $32,571.  The project proposes to addresses high-risk sexual behaviors and communicable disease, and the goal of reducing health disparities while focusing on special racial and ethnic populations. 

 

Body:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Medical College of Wisconsin to address public health methods for reducing rates of sexually transmitted diseases, unintended pregnancies and communicable disease; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 07/01/07 to 06/30/08 would cost $38,891 of which, $6,320 (16%) would be provided by the City and $32,571 (84% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Medical College of Wisconsin is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent of the 2007 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Funds, the following amounts for the project titled MASH Grant:

2.  Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Levels; budget to these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:

 

1.  Expend from the amount appropriated sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;

 

2.  Expend from the 2007 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff; and

 

3.  Enter into subcontracts as detailed in the grant budget; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2007 Positions Ordinance C.C. File Number 060494, should be amended as follows:
