Title

Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to issue a permit allowing excavation at the intersection of West Bluemound Road and North 92nd Street where the pavement is less than three years old. (DPW)

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to issue an excavation permit allowing WE Energies to extend a high voltage power line below grade across the intersection of North 92nd Street and West Bluemound Road.  The power line will serve Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District's (MMSD's) tunnel boring activities in conjunction with the Northwest Side Relief Sewer project.  The pavement in West Bluemound Road at this intersection is less than three years old and as a result, Common Council approval of the pavement cut is required.

Body

Whereas, WE Energies is installing power line facilities on the City's west side in support of MMSD's Northwest Side Relief Sewer project; and

Whereas, The new power line must cross West Bluemond Road at North 92nd Street; and

Whereas, The only feasible way to extend the new power line across this intersection is underground through open cut construction methods; and

Whereas, The pavement in the intersection of West Bluemound Road and North 92nd is less than three years old and under warranty until July of 2004; and

Whereas, Delaying the power line installation would seriously compromise MMSD's Northwest Side Relief Sewer project; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to issue an excavation permit allowing a cut in pavement in the intersection of North 92nd Street and West Bluemound Road; and be it

Further Resolved, That upon completion of the power line installation, the pavement shall be restored by the permit holder in accordance with the specifications and restrictions established by the Department of Public Works of the City of Milwaukee.
