Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to issue a Request for Proposals and award a contract for the analysis and recommendation and development of plans and specifications for the eventual mitigation of the structural deficiencies of the Meter Shop Building.
Body:
Whereas, The Common Council, through the approval of the 2007 Water Works Capital Improvement Budget, provided funding for the mitigation of the structural deficiencies of the Meter Shop building which has undergone significant settling since the 1990’s. External walls have shifted, internal walls have cracks, internal doors fail to close properly and windows exhibit significant leaks; and
Whereas, It is impractical to develop precise bidding specifications for the professional services needed to analyze the situation and recommend strategies to mitigate the structural deficiencies; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to issue a Request for Proposals for professional services associated with the study and recommendation along with development of plans and specification for the correction of issues related to the settling of the Meter Shop Building; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to award a Contract for Professional Services associated with the same; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the cost of the all the work be charged to the appropriate Water Works account.
