The resolution directs the Department of Public Works to study current and potential future access conditions from West Sheridan Avenue onto North Green Bay Avenue, and from North Long Island Avenue onto Silver Spring Drive in light of Glendale's proposed West Silver Spring Drive improvement project. The Department of Public Works is directed to submit a written report to the Common Council within 60 days of the adoption of this resolution.

BODY:

Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 971169 on February 10, 1998, approving a preliminary cooperation agreement between the City of Glendale and the City of Milwaukee regarding Glendale's proposed West Silver Spring Drive improvement project; and

 

Whereas, A number of Milwaukee citizens living in neighborhoods near the proposed project have expressed their concerns about the potential adverse impact the project might have on vehicular traffic, particularly area residents' accessibility to Silver Spring Drive and Green Bay Avenue; and

 

Whereas, It is necessary to ensure that such concerns are properly addressed by making Silver Spring Drive and Green Bay Avenue pedestrian and vehicle-friendly; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works is directed to study current and potential future access conditions from West Sheridan Avenue onto North Green Bay Avenue, and from North Long Island Drive onto Silver Spring Drive; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is directed to include cost estimates of the public improvements needed to address the traffic flow and accessibility concerns of area residents; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is directed submit a written report to the Common Council within 60 days of the adoption of this resolution.
