Analysis
This resolution designates the Back to School Festival as an official City event and authorizes the acceptance and expenditure of donations to fund the event.
Body
Whereas, The Back to School Festival provides opportunities for parents to ensure their children are ready to return to school; and
Whereas, In an effort to prepare students for a healthy start to the academic year the Milwaukee Health Department will provide free health screenings at the Back to School Festival; and
Whereas, The Back to School Festival offers a variety of services and family-friendly activities; and
Whereas, Families can attend the Back to School Festival free of charge; and
Whereas, Sponsors of the Back to School Festival have included Popeyes. Milwaukee County Parks, Children’s Hospital Wisconsin, Kroger Health, Peoples State Bank, Hayat Pharmacy, Walmart, Pick n Save, Northwestern Mutual, Playmakers, Mr. B’s, Kitchen & Cocktails, The Firm Consulting, LLC, Prime Social, EZ Rentals and many more; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee may receive contributions from community residents and businesses to provide for the expenses of the Back to School Festival; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council designates the Back to School Festival as an official City event; and, be it
Further Resolved, That all City departments are directed to assist as necessary to make the Back to School Festival successful; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Office of the Common Council-City Clerk is authorized to accept up to $100,000 of contributions for the Back to School Festival event and to expend such funds for this purpose or any purpose specified by the contribution in accordance with established City policies and procedures, and, be it
Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish a special account within the Common Council - City Clerk’s budget for the expenditure of the contributions; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Special Purpose Account for Contributions, 0001-2110-0001-006300-D001, and the Estimated Revenue Account for Contributions, 0001-2110-0001-009850, to the Common Council-City Clerk’s Special Account, 0001-1310-DXXX-006300 or -006000 as directed by the City Clerk, and the Common Council-City Clerk’s Estimated Revenue Account, 0001-1310-0001-009850, up to the amount of $100,000.
