Analysis

Access to auto dealerships located on Metro Boulevard on Milwaukee’s Northwest Side is limited. To improve access to Metro Boulevard, the auto dealerships in the area have requested the construction of a new public street connecting Good Hope Road to Metro Boulevard at approximately 110^th Street. However, access restrictions established by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation along a portion of Good Hope Road currently prohibit the construction of the street. This resolution requests the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to release the access restrictions along a portion of Good Hope Road near U.S. Highway 41 and 45, and State Highway 145, for the construction of a public street.

Whereas, Several auto dealerships are located along  Metro Boulevard on Milwaukee’s Northwest Side; and

Whereas, Access to these auto dealerships via City streets is limited; and

Whereas, To improve access to Metro Boulevard, the auto dealerships have requested the construction of a new public street connecting Good Hope Road to  Metro Boulevard at approximately 110^th Street; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has established access restrictions along Good Hope Road that currently prohibit the construction of a new public street at this location; and

Whereas, WisDOT will consider releasing those access restrictions if requested by the City of Milwaukee; now, therefore, be it 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee requests WisDOT to release access restrictions along a portion of Good Hope Road near US Highway 41 and 45, and State Highway 145, for the purpose of construction of a public street connecting Good Hope Road to Metro Boulevard at approximately 110^th Street.
