Title
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Immunization Initiative.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Immunization Initiative Grant from the Centers for Disease Control through the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services in the amount of $189,596. The purpose of the program is to increase and improve influenza and pneumonia vaccination rates for adults 65 years of age and older in African American and Hispanic communities.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services for increasing and influencing influenza and pneumonia vaccination rates for adults 65 years of age and older in African American and Hispanic communities; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant program from 09/01/02 to 08/31/03 would cost $189,596 provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2002 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the program titled Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Immunization Initiative Grant:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2002 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff;
3. Expend from the 2002 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2002 Positions Ordinance, C.C. File 010468, should be amended as follows:
