Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant (Police Department).

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant project from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation in the amount of $178,206 with a city share of $73,206 and a grantor share of $105,000. The purpose of the project is to establish a multi-agency, interdisciplinary task force to investigate and prosecute internet crimes against children. No position authority is contingent on the grant.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation, for an Internet Crimes Against Children Grant; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from February 1, 2000 to January 31, 2001 would cost $178,206 of which, $73,206 (41%) would be provided by the city and $105,000 (59%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Justice is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2000 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project titled Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant :

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:
Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
