Analysis

This ordinance reflects the combining of fire department and police department telecommunications staff into the department of emergency communication.  Telecommunications staff in the department of emergency communications will recognize city holidays, and will be paid overtime if they are scheduled to work on a holiday.  This ordinance also makes the emergency overtime work provisions that applied to the police department’s technical communications division and the fire department’s technical services division apply to the department of emergency communication.
