Title

Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to provide reimbursement of actual costs for services and items provided by the City as traffic mitigation measures in conjunction with the reconstruction of the Marquette Interchange in 2004.
Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) will be undertaking the reconstruction of West Clybourn Street/West Tory Hill and the North 16th Street bridge over I-94 near the Marquette Interchange in 2004; and
 
Whereas, Construction activity on the Marquette Interchange is anticipated to result in the diversion of traffic on the local street system during this project due to long term street closures; and
 
Whereas, Preliminary approval has been received from the WISDOT, along with Project Agreements to be executed by the City of Milwaukee, to provide reimbursement of actual costs for necessary services and items provided by the City as local street traffic impact mitigation measures in conjunction with the Marquette Interchange construction; and
 
Whereas, The total estimated cost of local street traffic mitigation measures during the 2004 reconstruction of the Marquette Interchange is $285,786 including $190,851 for surface street traffic flow and operational improvements by the Department of Public Works, and $94,935 for priority control for fire emergency vehicles at traffic signals along key alternate routes; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to execute the Project Agreement to provide reimbursement of the actual costs for services and items provided by the City as local street traffic impact mitigation measures in conjunction with the reconstruction of the Marquette Interchange in 2004, copies of which are attached to Common Council Resolution File Number 031392 and is incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is hereby authorized to create within the Capital Improvement Fund, Grant and Aid Projects, the necessary Project/Grant Chartfield values for the project (Expenditure) and transfer to these accounts the amount required under the Project Agreements and City Accounting Policy, but not to exceed a 10 percent increase of the total amounts reserved for the grantor's share and local share or $5,000, whichever is greater, as follows:
