Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the acceptance of a bequest from the estate of David John Dombrowski.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to accept a bequest from the estate of David John Dombrowski. 50% of the Dombrowski bequest shall be deposited into a special account that Business Improvement District #44 (KK Avenue ) has established specifically for a bus shelter public art project of the triangle of City-owned land at S. Howell, S. Kinnickinnic, and E. Lincoln Avenues in the 14th Aldermanic District.

Whereas, Section 304-21 of the Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received to the City; and
Whereas, David John Dombrowski willed his entire estate to the Department of Public Works, where he worked for 36 years, from 1966 to 2002; and
Whereas, David Dombrowski was a resident of the 14th Aldermanic District; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works is authorized to accept this bequest; and, be it
Further Resolved, At the time the funds are released to the City, 50% of the Dombrowski bequest shall be directly deposited into a special account that Business Improvement District #44 (KK Avenue) has established specifically for a bus shelter public art project of the triangle of City-owned land at S. Howell, S. Kinnickinnic, and E. Lincoln Avenues in the 14th Aldermanic District; and, be it
Further Resolved, That a plaque noting Mr. Dombrowski's generous contribution shall be placed at this location by Business Improvement District #44 (KK Avenue); and, be it
Further Resolved, When the funds become available, 50% of the Dombrowski bequest shall be deposited into a Business Improvement District #44 (KK Avenue) account that has been established for the bus shelter public art project; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the appropriate City officers are directed to establish the necessary subaccounts in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices and City guidelines necessary to maintain the fiscal control to carry out the intent and purpose of this resolution; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council expresses its condolences to the family and friends of David John Dombrowski and its sincere appreciation for this bequest.
