Title

Substitute resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Maternal Health Grant.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Maternal Health Grant from Meta House in the amount of $89,569. The purpose of the grant is to provide intensive nursing care management to substance using, African-American pregnant or postpartum women and their families.

 

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from Meta House to provide intensive nursing care management to substance using, African-American pregnant or postpartum women and their families; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant program from 09/30/05 to 09/29/06 would cost $89,569 provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to Meta House is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent of the 2005 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the program titled Maternal Health Grant:

2.  Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:

 

1.                     Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and

 

2. Expend from the 2005 grant budget funds for training  and out-of-town travel by departmental staff.
