Title
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Meta House FamilyWorks Project Grant. (Health Department)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Meta House FamilyWorks Project from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration in the amount of $500,000. The purpose of the project is to partner with Meta House Inc. to increase its capacity to serve primarily African American women and address the many health disparities experienced by this population.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration to partner with Meta House Inc. to increase its capacity to serve primarily African American women and address the many health disparities experienced by this population; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 06/01/05 to 05/30/06 would cost $500,000 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent of the 2005 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects fund, the following amounts for the project titled Meta House FamilyWorks Project:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget to these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
- Expend from the 2005 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff; and
3. Enter into subcontracts and leases as detailed in the grant budget.
