Analysis
This resolution amends Common Council File 030668 relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Early Child Care Grant. The purpose of the grant is to assure the health and safety of children, birth to five years of age, who attend group-licensed childcare centers. .
Body
Whereas, Common Council File 030668 authorized the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Early Child Care Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Family Services, Health Resources and Services Administration for the purpose of assuring the health and safety of children, birth to five years of age, who attend group licensed childcare centers. This grant provided for a Grantor share total of $496,750; and
Whereas, The Grantor share for this program is increased by $270,610; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the U.S. Department of Health and Family Services, Health Resources and Services Administration is authorized and the Health Department shall accept such a grant without further Common Council approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to commit funds within Project/Grant Parent of the 2004 Special Revenue - Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amount for the project titled Early Child Care Grant:

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the 2004 grant budget funds for specified items of equipment;
2. Enter into subcontracts and leases as detailed in the grant budget; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2004 Positions Ordinance, Common Council File 030415, should be amended as follows:

Delete:

Amend footnote (QQ ) as follows:

Further Resolved, That all standard resolved clauses articulated in Common Council File 030668 remain applicable.
