Title:

Resolution relating to expenditure of funds to be reimbursed by greater than anticipated revenue (Milwaukee Police Department).

Analysis:

This resolution authorizes the Office of the Comptroller to increase appropriations in the Special Purpose account for Contributions allowing for execution of the transfer authorized in Resolution 090250.

Body:

Whereas, Common Council file 980965 established procedural guidelines related to the expenditure of funds to be reimbursed by greater than anticipated revenues; and

Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City, and

Whereas, The Estimated Contribution Revenue account as a source of funds for general city purposes was established at $2,100,000.00 as a result of the 2009 Budget process; and

Whereas, Contribution revenue received to date exceeds $2,093,899.49; and

Whereas, Resolution 090250 authorizes the transfer of funds from the Police Department’s Federal forfeiture Trust Fund to the Federal Forfeiture Contribution Revenue account and their subsequent expenditure; and

Whereas, There is insufficient appropriations to accomplish this transfer in accordance with the established procedural guidelines; and

Whereas, The Comptroller has certified greater than anticipated revenue in the amount of $108,000.00,

Pursuant to s. 304-91, I hereby certify that the money required for this item is anticipated to be realized on or before 12/31/2009 to be expended only for the purpose in this resolution.

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $108,000.00 is appropriated to the 2009 Special Purpose Contribution account 0001-2110-0001-D001-006300 with a corresponding increase to the Estimated Contribution Revenue account 0001-9990-009850 and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller be, and hereby is, authorized and directed to carry out the intent of this resolution.
