Title

Resolution directing the Commissioner of Public Works to apply for a 2008-2009 Wisconsin Coastal Management Program grant from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Administration.

Analysis

This resolution directs the Commissioner of Public Works to apply for a 2008-2009 Wisconsin Coastal Management Program (WCMP) grant in the amount of $120,000, with a City share of $72,000 and a grantor share of $48,000.  The purpose of this grant is to aid in funding for the construction of a porous pavement parking lot on a City owned facility at 1313 West Mount Vernon Avenue. 

Body

Whereas, Stormwater pollution control is an important component of the City of Milwaukee’s (City) stormwater management regulation and the City’s permit with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; and

 

Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works intends to apply for a grant from the Wisconsin, Department of Administration (WDOA) to help construct a practice that promotes stormwater pollution abatement; and

 

Whereas, Porous pavements have been proven as a practice well suited for the removal of sediments from and the temporary retention of urban stormwater runoff; and

 

Whereas, To assist in funding for the construction of a porous pavement parking lot, the City wishes to apply for grant funds from the WDOA under the 2008-2009 Wisconsin Coastal Management Program (WCMP) Grant Program; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant begins on July 1, 2008 and the WDOA would provide a maximum cost share of 40 percent of eligible costs, with a total grantor share not to exceed $48,000, now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is directed to apply for a 2008-2009 Wisconsin Coastal Management Program grant from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Administration.
