This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install the necessary traffic control facilities in conjunction with a Federal/State Aid highway improvements contracts with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
BODY:
Whereas, The Surface Transportation Program provides cost participation for traffic control improvements in conjunction with the paving of highways located on the Federal/State Aid Highway System; and
Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 971662, adopted March 3, 1998 authorized and directed the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement for programming and construction of the improvement of S. Layton Boulevard from W. Lincoln Avenue to W. Evergreen Lane with Federal/State Aid under the Surface Transportation Program; and
Whereas, The total estimated cost of these projects is $46,000 for the alteration and upgrading of traffic control signals and the upgrading of traffic control signs; and
Whereas, Twenty percent of the participating costs or $9,200 is non-reimbursable and is included in the Division's 1998 Capital Purpose Account #32-550-0001; and
Whereas, Eighty percent of the participating project cost or $36,800 is reimbursable from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and this amount is not included in Division accounts, and should be earmarked for this project in the 1998 Capital Grant and Aid Projects Fund 32-010-0000; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute contracts with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation pertaining to the cost participation for the installation and/or modification of traffic control facilities in conjunction with the improvements to S. Layton Boulevard from W. Lincoln Avenue to W. National Avenue and from W. National Avenue to W. Evergreen Lane with service and supply prices based on predetermined estimates prepared under the Federal/State aided highway program; and, be it
Further Resolved, That upon approval of these contracts, the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to have installed traffic control facilities necessary in conjunction with the paving of these Federal/State aided highway improvements; and, be it
Further Resolved, That upon approval of these contracts, the City Comptroller is hereby authorized to create within the Capital Grant and Aid Projects Fund the appropriate sub-account for these projects and transfer to these accounts the amounts required under the contract provisions but not to exceed a ten percent increase in those amounts set aside for the Grantor's Share and the City's Share as follows:
