Analysis
This ordinance revises the charges authorized for Advanced Life Support (ALS) services provided by the fire department to reflect recommendations by the Milwaukee County Association of Fire Chiefs (MCAFC) based upon a 1.4% increase reported in the Medical Care Commodities and Medical Care Service Consumer Price Index (CPI) for 2013. The charges for basic paramedic services, with and without transport, are increased for Milwaukee county residents as follows:

1.  Paramedic non-invasive service or treatment without conveyance from $128 to $129.79.
2.  Paramedic invasive service or treatment without conveyance from $128 to $129.79.
3.  Paramedic service with transport (Level ALS-1) from $678 to $687.49.
4.  Paramedic service with transport (Level ALS-2) from $781 to $791.93.

The rate schedule for non-residents of Milwaukee county includes similar increases.

Charges for paramedic services and for pharmaceuticals and supplies are the same for Milwaukee county residents and non-residents and have been increased, rounded to the nearest dollar, to reflect the overall 1.4% CPI increase in 2013.  This ordinance also increases the mileage rate for transport from $15 to $15.21.

Whereas, The Milwaukee County Association of Fire Chiefs (MCAFC) annually recommends rates to be charged by municipalities for advanced Life Support (ALS) services.
