Substitute motion to approve recommendations of the Utilities and Licenses Committee relative to a 20-day suspension in lieu of revocation of the Class "B" Tavern license issued to LaQuanda Madison for the premises located at 2336 W. Orchard Street ("Club Down Low"), in the 8th Aldermanic District.

ANLS:

This substitute motion grants the Class "B" Tavern license with a 20-day suspension of LaQuanda Madison in lieu of revocation for the      premises located at 2336 W. Orchard Street ("Club Down Low") in the 8th Aldermanic District.

BODY:

Whereas, The Utilities and Licenses Committee held an evidentiary hearing on June 12, 2000, relative to the revocation of the Class "B" Tavern license of LaQuanda Madison for the premises located at 2336 W. Orchard Street ("Club Down Low") in the 8th Aldermanic District; and

Whereas, The Committee found that the licensed premises is operated in a disorderly manner and constitutes a public nuisance contrary to the public welfare and a substantial and adverse threat to the health, safety, convenience and prosperity of the immediate neighborhood, and that it is in the best interest of the community that the Class "B" Tavern license of LaQuanda Madison for the premises located at 2336 W. Orchard Street ("Club Down Low") in the 8th Aldermanic District, be granted with a 20-day suspension, in lieu of revocation; and

Whereas, The Utilities and Licenses Committee, after hearing all of the testimony of the neighborhood complainants and police report, voted (3 ayes, 2 noes) to recommend granting of said license with a 20-day suspension in lieu of revocation; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, hereby accepts the recommendation of the Utilities and Licenses Committee to grant the Class "B" Tavern license with a 20-day suspension in lieu of revocation of LaQuanda Madison for the premises located at 2336 W. Orchard Street ("Club Down Low") in the 8th Aldermanic District, based upon objections by the neighborhood and the police report.
