Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to enter into a five-year lease with the owners of the Midtown Center Shopping Mall for space to house the Milwaukee Police Department's Midtown Station.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Police Department has occupied space in the Capitol Court shopping mall since 1995 for purposes of a police satellite office; and
 
Whereas, Such lease was extended on a month-to-month basis in June, 2000 by the Capitol Court Corporation and approval of the Common Council in Resolution No. 000332, adopted June 30, 2000; and
 
Whereas, Capitol Court shopping center was conveyed to Boulder Venture in February, 2001 and the month-to-month arrangement for police department space was terminated thereafter so that Boulder Venture could develop the new Midtown Center Shopping Mall; and
 
Whereas, Boulder Venture is now known as BV/CJUF Midtown Ventures, LLC, and has offered the City of Milwaukee a five-year lease for Milwaukee Police Department space in the new Midtown Center Shopping Mall with no rent or any utilities charged to the City; and
 
Whereas, The Office of City Attorney has reviewed the proposed lease, attached hereto as Exhibit A, and has approved the form and contents as such; and
 
Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department is desirous of continuing to occupy space in the Midtown Center as the Milwaukee Police Department Midtown Station; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proposed lease with BV/CJUF Midtown Ventures, LLC and the City of Milwaukee, substantially in the form as found as attached as Exhibit A attached hereto, is hereby approved; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the proper City officers are hereby authorized and directed to execute the lease for Milwaukee Police Department space in the Midtown Center shopping mall, 4115 North 56th Street, Milwaukee, WI.
