Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Pregnancy Prevention Consortium Grant (CDC).
ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund a Pregnancy Prevention Consortium Grant project from the Centers for Disease Control in the amount of $458,563 with a city share of $78,288 and a grantor share of $380,275. The purpose of the project is to develop and implement a city-wide community action plan for the prevention of adolescent pregnancy.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Centers for Disease Control for developing and implementing a city-wide community action plan for the prevention of adolescent pregnancy; and
 
Whereas, The operation of this grant project (CFDA #93.283) from 10/01/97 to 09/30/98 would cost $458,563 of which $78,288 (17%) would be provided by the city and $380,275 (83%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Centers for Disease Control is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
 
1. Encumber in the parent accounts of the 1997 Special Revenue Accounts-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project/program titled Pregnancy Prevention Consortium Grant (CDC):

2. Create a Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Projects and the necessary expenditure and revenue accounts; appropriate to these accounts the amount required under the grant agreement and transfer the corresponding offsetting estimated revenue;
 
3. Establish the necessary grant performance submeasures; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That these funds are appropriated to the Health Department which is authorized to:
 
1. Expend from the amount appropriated sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
 
2. Expend from the 1997 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff;
 
3. Enter into subcontracts and leases as detailed in the grant budget.
