- Analysis -

 

This resolution grants permission to a City of Glendale proposed housing development to be connected to the City of Milwaukee sanitary sewer and water facilities in West Custer Avenue between North 13th Street and North 15th Street.

 

 

BODY:

Whereas, On December 8, 1997, the Common Council of the City of Glendale adopted a resolution requesting from the City of Milwaukee to connect a proposed development located at the north side of West Custer Avenue between North 13th and North 15th Streets to the City of Milwaukee sanitary sewer and water facilities in said West Custer Avenue, said development to be constructed in two phases; and

 

Whereas, There is an existing 12-inch diameter sanitary sewer in the south side of West Custer Avenue adjacent to said proposed development, and said 12-inch diameter sanitary sewer was designed to serve both sides of West Custer Avenue; and

 

Whereas, There is an existing 8-inch diameter water main in the south side of West Custer Avenue that has enough capacity to serve the development; and

 

Whereas, It may cost the City of Glendale up to $200,000 to connect the proposed development to a Glendale sanitary sewer located in West Silver Spring Drive; and

 

Whereas, On February 10, 1998 the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted resolution File Number 971169 approving an agreement between both Cities, whereby a comprehensive redevelopment plan for West Silver Spring Drive shall be undertaken by the City of Glendale including those portions within the City of Milwaukee; and

 

Whereas, The limits of the proposed development in West Custer Avenue extend from North 13th Street to a point 670' plus or minus west of the west line of North 13th Street; and

 

Whereas, It has been the policy of the City of Milwaukee to cooperate with other communities along its boundaries in matters of this nature; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City of Glendale is hereby given permission to connect the proposed development to the City of Milwaukee 12-inch diameter sanitary sewer and 8-inch diameter water main facilities located in the south side of West Custer Avenue; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That a suburban water main connection fee for both phases of the development be paid to the City of Milwaukee in the amount of $50,250, said fee is based on 670 feet of frontage of the proposed development at the 1998 rate of $75 per lineal foot; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That a suburban sanitary sewer connection fee for both phases of the development be paid to the City of Milwaukee in the amount of $23,450, said fee is based on 670 feet of frontage of the proposed development at the 1998 rate of $35 per lineal foot; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That said water and sanitary connection fees shall be subject to change depending on the degree of development and the rate in effect at the time of application for connection; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That a certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to the City of Glendale.
