Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a document titled “Revised State and Municipal Agreement for a State-Let Highway Project” with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming and construction of East Wells Street (USH 18) from North 6th Street to North Prospect Avenue in the 4th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a revised project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming and construction of East Wells Street (USH 18) from North 6th Street to North Prospect Avenue, in the 4th Aldermanic District, with Federal and State Aid. This project is included in the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s current State Highway Rehabilitation Program for improvement. The City is responsible for 25 percent of the preliminary engineering costs on this project in accordance with Wisconsin Department of Transportation policy. City costs for the construction of this project are dependent upon parking allowed. The estimated total cost of this project is $3,525,000, of which the City’s share is $618,160.

Whereas, A project agreement has been executed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee for the reconstruction of East Wells Street (USH 18) from North 6th Street to North Prospect Avenue with Federal and State Aid under the State Highway Rehabilitation Program, in accordance with Common Council Resolution File Number 111363, adopted February 28, 2012; and
Whereas, Preliminary Engineering is underway and has indicated that a reconstruction is not warranted at this time: and
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has sent a revised project agreement that reflects the costs associated with a rehabilitation of this facility in lieu of a full reconstruction; and
Whereas, The improvements scheduled for this connecting highway are included on the current Wisconsin Department of Transportation State Highway Rehabilitation Program; and
Whereas, Construction funds for the project will be included in a separate resolution; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to execute the revised agreement for the programming and rehabilitation of the aforementioned Connecting Highway Project with Federal and State Aid, copies of which are attached to Common Council Resolution File Number 150540, and are incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full.
