Title:
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of an Alcohol Enforcement 2010-11 grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept, and fund an Alcohol Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $50,000. The purpose of this grant is to detect and apprehend motor vehicle operators under the influence of an intoxicant or controlled substance.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for an Alcohol Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/01/10 to 09/30/11 would cost $50,000, of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2009 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Alcohol Enforcement Grant:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:

Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
