This resolution authorizes the issuance of a Request for Proposal and execution of a contract for the replacement of the Water Works' present Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System and control rooms at the Linnwood and Howard Avenue Water Purification Plants. The contract will be awarded to the vendor that best meets the needs of the Water Works as specified and determined by the Commissioner of Public Works.

Whereas, The Common Council, through the approval of the 2005 Water Works Capital Improvement Budget, provided funding for the procurement of a replacement to the current Water Works SCADA system and control rooms at the Linnwood and Howard Avenue Water Purification Plants; and
Whereas, It is impractical to develop precise bidding specifications; and
Whereas the Milwaukee Water Works has been designated a critical infrastructure under Homeland Security regulations, and the details of the SCADA system are sensitive security information that should be protected; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to issue a Request for Proposals for a replacement of the Water Works' present Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System and control rooms at the Linnwood and Howard Avenue Water Purification Plants and, upon selection of the vendor best meeting the needs of the Water Works, to issue a contract for the project; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the cost of the system be charged to the appropriate Water Works account.
