Title

A substitute ordinance to further amend the 2026 rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service.

 

Analysis

This substitute ordinance changes the rates of pay in the following departments:

Health Department (Clinical Services Division), Department of Public Works-Water Works

 

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1.  Part 1, Section 1 of ordinance File Number 250698 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows (Effective Pay Period 14, 2026 - June 21, 2026):

 

Under Pay Range 1GX, delete the titles of “Public Health Laboratory Operations Manager (7)” and “Water Quality Supervisor (6)”, delete footnote (6) in its entirety, and renumber remaining footnotes accordingly.

 

Under Pay Range 1IX, add the titles of “Public Health Laboratory Operations Manager (7)” and “Water Quality Supervisor (7)”.

 

Part 2.  Part 1, Section 2 of ordinance File Number 250698 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows (Effective Pay Period 14, 2026 - June 21, 2026):

 

Under Pay Range 2FN, delete the titles of “Chemist (3)”, “Microbiologist (3)”, “Virologist (3)”, “Water Chemist (3)”, and “Water Microbiologist (3)”.

 

Under Pay Range 2HN, delete the titles of “Chemist-Senior (3)”, “Laboratory Quality Assurance Specialist (3)”, “Microbiologist-Senior (3)”, “Virologist-Senior (3)”, “Water Chemist-Senior (3)”, “Water Microbiologist-Senior (3)”, “Water Quality Analyst (3)”, “Water Quality Assurance Specialist (3)”; delete footnote (3) in its entirety, and renumber remaining footnotes accordingly.

 

Under Pay Range 2IN, delete the title of “Water Chemist Project Leader (3)”, delete footnote (3) in its entirety, and renumber remaining footnotes accordingly.

 

Under Pay Range 2JN, add the titles of “Chemist”(15)”, “Microbiologist”(15)”, “Water Chemist”(15)”,  “Water Microbiologist”(15)”; and add new footnote (15) to read as follows:

 

(15)                      Recruitment is at:

 

Biweekly                     3,021.08

Annual                                          78,548.08

 

Under pay Range 2KN, add the titles of “Chemist-Senior (16)”,  “Laboratory Quality Assurance Specialist (16)”,  “Microbiologist-Senior (16)”,  “Water Chemist-Senior (16)”, “Water Chemist Project Leader (16)”, “Water Microbiologist-Senior (16)”, “Water Quality Analyst (16)”, “Water Quality Assurance Specialist (16)”; amend footnote (10) and add new footnote (16) to read as follows:

Annual                                          95,837.04

 

(16)                      Recruitment is at:

Under Pay Range 2LN, amend footnote (8) to read as follows:

Under Pay Range 2MX, add footnote designation (10) to and delete footnote designation (12) from the title of “Biothreat Coordinator (12)”, delete footnote (12) in its entirety, and renumber remaining footnotes accordingly.

 

Part 3.  Part 1, Section 3 of ordinance File Number 250698 relative to rates of pay of offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows (Effective Pay Period 14, 2026 - June 21, 2026):

 

Under Pay Range 3MN, delete the titles of “Medical Laboratory Technician (5)”, “Water Laboratory Technician (5) (6)”, and delete footnotes (5) and (6) in their entirety.

 

Under Pay Range 3PN, add the titles of “Medical Laboratory Technician (2)” and “Water Laboratory Technician (2) (5)”, and add new footnote (5) to read as follows:

 

(5)                     Employees will receive an additional 5% incentive for lead work.’

 

Part 4.  All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

Part 5.  The provisions of Parts 1, 2, and 3 of this ordinance are deemed to be in force and effect from and after Pay Period 14, 2026 (June 21, 2026).

 

The provisions of this ordinance are deemed to be in force and effect from and after its passage and publication.

 

Part 6.  This ordinance will take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
