Title

Resolution amending Common Council File 041604 relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Grant. (Health Department)

 

Analysis

This resolution amends Common Council File 041604 relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Grant.  The purpose of the grant is to reduce the incidence and complications of sexually transmitted diseases through preventive health education services and focused disease intervention activities.                                                                                    

 

Body

Whereas, Common Council File 041604 authorized the  Health Department  to apply for, accept and fund the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Grant from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services to reduce the incidence and complications of sexually transmitted diseases through preventive health education services and focused disease intervention activities.  This grant provided for a Grantor share total of $134,577; and

 

Whereas, The Grantor share for this program is increased by $100,000; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to  the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept such a grant without further Common Council approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within Project/Grant Parent of the 2005 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Funds, the following amount for the project titled Sexually Transmitted Diseases Grant:

Further Resolved, That the funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:

 

Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and,  be it

 

Further Resolved,  That the Common Council directs that the 2005 Positions Ordinance C.C. File Number 040459, should be amended as follows:

 

Health Department

Disease Control and Prevention Division

Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic

 

Add:

 

(3)  Public Health Educators II (X)(F)

 

Amend  footnote (F) as follows:

 

To expire 12/31/05 unless the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Grant, available from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services, is extended; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That all standard resolved clauses articulated in Common Council File  041604 remain applicable.
