Resolution authorizing the appropriate City officials to enter into an agreement for the administration of the Main Street Milwaukee program.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to enter into an agreement with the Milwaukee Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and each of the four organizations selected to participate in the Main Street Milwaukee Program for revitalizing Milwaukee's neighborhood commercial districts. The agreement sets forth administrative and program requirements and contemplates that LISC will provide future financial support for the program
Body
Whereas, The Department of City Development ("DCD") and Milwaukee's Local Initiatives Support Corporation ("LISC") have previously entered into an agreement, as authorized by File No. 031155, to create the Main Street Milwaukee Program; and
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, in File No. 040858, authorized the creation of the Main Sreet Milwaukee Partners Board to implement the Main Street Milwaukee Program; and
Whereas, the Burleigh Street Community Development Corporation, the Layton Boulevard West Neighbors, the Lincoln Village Business Association and the West End Development Corporation (collectively, the "Designated District Organizations") have each been selected to participate in the Main Street Milwaukee Program and have each been awarded a grant of Community Development Block Grant funds for that purpose; and
Whereas, DCD, LISC and each of the Designated District Organizations seek to enter into an agreement, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council file as Exhibit A, which essentially describes in detail each parties' administrative responsibilities in the implementation of the Main Street Milwaukee Program for 2005;
Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers are hereby authorized and directed, on behalf of the City, to execute four separate agreements, as essentially described in Exhibit A, with LISC and each of the four Designated District Organizations.
