This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Water Works to negotiate a water service agreement with the City of New Berlin.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council, under Resolution File No. 990442, authorized the Water Works and the Legislative Reference Bureau to study and evaluate the request for water service from the City of New Berlin; and
Whereas, Both the Water Works and the Legislative Reference Bureau have submitted reports to the Common Council regarding the study and evaluation of New Berlin's water service request; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Water Works is hereby authorized to negotiate a wholesale water service agreement with the City of New Berlin; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the negotiated agreement be submitted to the Common Council for approval prior to execution, and if approved, be filed with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.

Dear Council Members:
SUBJECT: Resolution granting authority to the Water Works to negotiate a water service agreement with the City of New Berlin.
The City of New Berlin has requested wholesale water service from Milwaukee and the Common Council has authorized a study and evaluation of the request. The Legislative Reference Bureau has submitted a feasibility report to the Common Council, and the Water Works report is attached to this letter. These reports provide an analysis of the proposed sale of water to New Berlin.
The attached resolution authorizes the Water Works to negotiate a water service agreement with the City of New Berlin that will be presented to the Common Council for approval. Your favorable consideration of the attached resolution is respectfully requested.
