Title
Resolution accepting vacant land located at 2207-11, 2213-15, 2217-19, 2221-23 and 2225-31 North Teutonia Avenue from the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee, declaring it along with vacant City-owned land at 1204-06, 1210 and 1214 West North Avenue surplus and approving the Land Disposition Report for sale to Prince Hall Village, LLC, for mixed-use development, in the 15th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
Adoption of this resolution permits the City of Milwaukee to convey the properties according to the conditions in the Land Disposition Report.
Body
Whereas, On July 15, 2003, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee through File No. 030352 authorized the sale of five properties on North Teutonia Avenue to the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (“Housing Authority”) for new residential construction as part of its HOPE VI project; and
Whereas, The Housing Authority determined that it no longer needs the five properties and did not redevelop them; and
Whereas, The Housing Authority Board through Resolution No. 12061 adopted December 20, 2006, authorized selling the five properties back to the City of Milwaukee for no monetary consideration; and
Whereas, The Commonwealth Companies and Vangard Group, LLC, doing business as Prince Hall Village, LLC, have offered to buy the five properties along with other vacant City-owned land for $150,000, for mixed-use development; and
Whereas, The Department of City Development (“DCD”) recommends acceptance of the offer contingent upon site and building plan approval prior to closing, and further contingent on the sale of said lots in an “as-is, where-is” condition without representations or warranties including but not limited to soil quality and subsurface condition; and
Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that said lots are surplus to municipal needs; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that 2207-11, 2213-15, 2217-19, 2221-23 and 2225-31 North Teutonia Avenue are accepted from the Housing Authority for no monetary consideration; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the following properties are declared surplus, that the Offer to Purchase from Prince Hall Village, LLC, is accepted and that the Commissioner of DCD, or assigns, is authorized and directed to perform such acts as necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution:
