- Analysis -
 
To provide the necessary authority for sidewalk repairs in the Seventh and Tenth Aldermanic Districts.
 
 
BODY:
Whereas, It is necessary and in the public interest to replace those sidewalk stones which are cracked, broken, out of grade or otherwise a hazard to pedestrians; and
 
Whereas, It is proposed that sidewalk replacement work be done in the following locations at the indicated cost:
 
Area bounded by: West Hadley Street, North Sherman Boulevard, West Fond du Lac Avenue and North 35th Street in the Seventh and Tenth Aldermanic Districts; and
 
Whereas, Funds that have been encumbered and thus set aside for the proposed public improvement are not sufficient; and
 
Whereas, Additional funds needed for assessable funding may be provided by supplementary assessable funding; and
 
Whereas, Common Council Resolution, 88-1665 adopted December 20, 1988 provides that appropriation authority for anticipated gross expenditures regardless of the sources of funds shall be provided in the Capital Budget; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that procedure as outlined in Common Council Resolution File No. 88-1665 adopted on December 20, 1988 with respect to financing assessable sidewalk construction shall be amended for the year 1998 to allow the addition of $110,500 in excess of 1998, budgeted amounts; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller be, and hereby is authorized and directed to increase estimated revenues (Account 71-040-9004) and appropriations (Account 71-040-0001) by $110,500 for this purpose; and, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works be, and is hereby authorized and directed to proceed to do the above described sidewalk replacement work, and the City Comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to transfer $256,000 from Account No. 31-040-0001 and $304,000 from Account No. 71-040-0001, which is available for Subaccounts; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the proper City departments take such action as is required of them to assess the abutting properties, and collect such assessment in the manner directed by Section 115-42 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.
