Title
Substitute resolution approving construction of nonassessable public improvements at various locations and appropriating funds for these purposes with the City construction cost estimated to be $15,894,500 for a total estimated cost of these projects being $17,772,000.
Analysis
This resolution directs the installation and construction of certain public improvements which have been determined to be nonassessable by the Commissioner of Public Works. The City cost of the projects approved by this resolution is estimated to be $15,894,500. The total estimated cost of these projects is $17,772,000.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted preliminary resolutions determining it necessary and in the public interest to construct nonassessable improvements; and
Whereas, Plans, specifications and cost estimates have been prepared for the following described improvements:
1st Aldermanic District
W. Hopkins St. - W. Fiebrantz Ave. to N. 35th St. (WT410130012) File Number 121420: Hydrant alteration. (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $25,000). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $40,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2013 construction season.
2nd and 5th Aldermanic Districts
W. Appleton Ave. - W. Capitol Dr. to N. 107th St. (WT410130009) File Number 120253: Hydrant alteration. (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $1,000; Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $79,000). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $95,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2013 construction season.
4th Aldermanic District
N. Plankinton Ave. - W. Wisconsin Ave. to W. Wells St. (WT410091028) File Number 090909: Relay water main. (Nonassessable Water Fund -- $2,000, Additional Funds). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $437,000. This project was constructed in 2011.
St. Paul Ave. Vertical Lift Bridge over the Milwaukee River (BR100130102) File Number 100839 (BR100100106): Movable bridge rehabilitation including structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and architectural components. (City Share Non-assessable Structure Fund -- $11,800,000, BR100130102). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $13,050,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2013-2014 construction season.

(Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $37,000; Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $433,000). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $475,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2013 construction season.

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to proceed with said work; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
