-Analysis-
This is a resolution to provide the authorization for the awarding of a contract for miscellaneous nonassessable water main work required for approved paving projects in 1997 at various locations throughout the City for which the total cost of each project is $50,000 or less. Resolutions for similar work have been approved in previous years. This work is included in the preliminary 1997 Capital Improvement Program for water mains.
BODY:
Whereas, Certain minor work on water mains may be required prior to construction of approved paving projects; and
Whereas, The work may consist of moving, replacing or installing hydrants and hydrant branches, interconnecting water mains at intersections, installing or replacing valves, water main abandonments or similar minor work; and
Whereas, At each paving project with a total cost of water main alterations of $50,000 or less, it is in the best interest of the City to award a contract to the lowest bidder for performing this miscellaneous work on a number of paving projects rather than requiring a separate authorization for each one; and
Whereas, Work under previously approved similar resolutions has progressed successfully; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to proceed to award a contract to the lowest responsible bidder for miscellaneous nonassessable water main work required as enumerated above to approved paving projects in 1997 up to a total cost of $250,000; and be it
Further Resolved, That the funds required be charged to Water Works Capital Improvement Parent Account No. 42-101-0001 under which this work has been budgeted.
