Analysis
This ordinance removes and vacates all 33 existing members on the Milwaukee commission on domestic violence and sexual assault and replaces them with 21 new members.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 320-22-3 of the code is repealed and recreated to read:
320-22. Milwaukee Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
3. COMPOSITION a. A majority of commission members shall be city residents. The commission shall be composed of the following 21 members, each of whom shall be subject to confirmation by the common council:
a-1. One state legislator appointed by the mayor.
a-2. One representative of the Wisconsin department of corrections appointed by the mayor.
a-3. One health care provider to the Native American community appointed by the mayor.
a-4. One health care provider to the African American community appointed by the mayor.
a-5. One attorney active in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault, appointed by the mayor.
a-6. One health care provider active in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault appointed by the mayor.
a-7. One member of the common council, appointed by the common council president.
a-8. One health care provider active in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault, appointed by the common council president.
a-9. One health care provider to the South East Asian community, appointed by the common council president.
a-10 One health care provider to the Hispanic and Latino community, appointed by the common council president.
a-11. One representative of the children’s court active in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault appointed by the district attorney.
a-12. One victim advocate active in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault appointed by the district attorney.
a-13. One health care provider to the LGBTQI community appointed by the common council president.
a-14. The Milwaukee county district court chief judge.
a-15. One elder domestic violence and sexual assault advocate, appointed by the Milwaukee county executive.
a-16. The Milwaukee police department training coordinator.
a-17. The Milwaukee police department sensitive crimes captain.
a-18. One social worker or trainer active in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault appointed by the Milwaukee public schools superintendent.
a-19. One manager or director of a non-profit or other organization in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault appointed by the common council president and recommended by the Wisconsin department of children and families director.
a-20. One youth advocate active in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault appointed by the common council president.
a-21. One advocate against human trafficking appointed by the common council president.
b. Any member of the commission may name an alternate.
Part 2. As of April 15th 2024, all current positions on the Milwaukee commission on domestic violence and sexual assault are deemed vacated.
