Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the acceptance and expenditure of a donation from the Urban Ecology Center for the improvement of the Riverside Park playground.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Division to accept and expend a donation of $50,000 from the Urban Ecology Center for the purposes of purchasing and installing playground equipment at the Riverside Park playground in conjunction with the Riverside Park Revitalization Project.
Body
Whereas, The Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Division has received an offer of donation consisting of $50,000 from the Urban Ecology Center for the improvement of the Riverside Park playground in conjunction with the Riverside Park Revitalization Project; and
Whereas, The donation will be for the purposes of purchasing and installing playground equipment, specifically a multi-age play area swing and a toddler dune play area, to aid in the creation of an innovative new play garden, dubbed the "Habitat," that will be the City's first Eco-Playground; and
Whereas, The Habitat Play Garden will provide for an alternative to traditional parks and playground equipment by allowing young naturalists to learn about and interact with the natural environment that exists in urban areas while leveraging playtime as an opportunity to foster environmental stewardship; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Division is authorized to accept and expend a donation of $50,000 from the Urban Ecology Center for the purposes of purchasing and installing playground equipment at the Riverside Park playground, in accordance with established City policies and procedures for acceptance of contributions; and, be it
Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish Special Accounts within the Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Division's budget for the expenditure of this contribution; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Contribution Fund - General, Account number 006300-0001-2110-0001-D001-2001, and the estimated revenue account for Contributions, Account number 009850-0001-2110-0001-D001-2001 to the Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Division's special account 006300-0001-5450-0001-Dxxx-2001 up to the amount of $30,000 and to the Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Division's special account 006800-0001-5450-0001-Dxxx-2001 up to the amount of $20,000.
