Title
Resolution approving an addendum to the 2004-2005 Emergency Medical Services Agreement for paramedic services with Milwaukee County.
Analysis
This resolution approves an addendum to the 2004-2005 paramedic service agreement between the City of Milwaukee and County of Milwaukee. The addendum identifies the change in percentage of system revenue for the City of Milwaukee as directed by the Intergovernmental Coordinating Council. Milwaukee County will begin payment of 2005 system revenue and tax levy upon receipt of the signed addendum.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee and County of Milwaukee initially entered into a contract for paramedic services on August 25, 1977; and
Whereas, On February 10, 2004, the Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 030990, allowing the Milwaukee Fire Department to continue to participate in the countywide paramedic emergency medical system for the 2004-2005 contract period commencing January 1, 2004, and ending December 31, 2005; and
Whereas, The County distributes payments to the City based on a formula developed and adopted by the Intergovernmental Coordinating Council net of billing fees and reductions for administrative expenses; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee anticipates receiving revenues totaling $5,269,311 under the contract agreement, a copy of which is attached to Resolution 030990; and
Whereas, The Intergovernmental Coordinating Council has revised the payment distribution formula to reflect a combination of revenue collected from billable patient fees and the tax levy (county funded); and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee and the County of Milwaukee wish to amend the 2004-2005 contract to reflect the change; and
Whereas, The formula maintains a distribution of tax levy (county funding) at one seventeenth of $3,000,000 and, for 2005 dates of service, changes the share of revenue percentage payable to the City of Milwaukee from 55.874% to 54.1667% of net collections minus any expenses as identified in subparagraph 4.1.11 and subsequent subparagraphs of the 2004-2005 agreement; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the addendum to the 2004-2005 paramedic contract between the City of Milwaukee and County of Milwaukee, a copy of which is attached to this file, is approved and the proper City officers are authorized and directed to execute the same on behalf of the City.
