Title

Resolution approving construction of nonassessable public improvements at various locations and appropriating funds for these purposes with the City construction cost estimated to be $6,577,986.48 for a total estimated cost of these projects being $10,383,929.85.

Analysis

This resolution directs the installation and construction of certain public improvements which have been determined to be nonassessable by the Commissioner of Public Works.  The City cost of the projects approved by this resolution is estimated to be $6,577,986.48.  The total estimated cost of these projects is $10,383,929.85.

Body

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted preliminary resolutions determining it necessary and in the public interest to construct nonassessable improvements; and

 

Whereas, Plans, specifications and cost estimates have been prepared for the following described improvements:

 

1st Aldermanic District

 

N. 31st St. - W. Capitol Dr. to 250’ North of W. Capitol Dr. (SM497240301) File Number 231464: Stormwater pond. (Nonassessable Flood Mitigation Fund -- $1,378,000). The total estimated cost of this project is $1,433,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2024 construction season.

 

2nd Aldermanic District

 

W. Hampton Ave. (Southside) - N. 71st St. to N. 74th St. (WT410210626) File Number 221942: Relaying water main. (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $0. Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $50,000 additional funding). The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $750,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2024 construction season.

 

3rd and 6th Aldermanic Districts

 

N. Holton St. Phase 2 - Bridge over Milwaukee River, N. Commerce St, N. Water St (BR3202012XX/ST3202012XX) (2984-12-74) File Number 200576: Bridge rehabilitation. This project is anticipated to be constructed in the 2024 construction season.

 

Grantor Non-Reimbursable Paving Fund -- $850,401.84

Grantor Reimbursable Paving Fund -- $127,560.28

City Share Non-Assessable Paving Fund -- $244,490.53

Grantor Non-Reimbursable Structure Fund -- $2,855,943.37

Grantor Reimbursable Structure Fund -- $428,391.51

City Share Non-Assessable Structure Fund -- $ 3,149,142.32

 

These funds are to be transferred to the construction accounts (BR3202012XX/ ST3202012XX) (2984-12-74)

5th Aldermanic District

 

W. Capitol Dr. (Southside) - N. 86th St. to N. 88th St. (WT410230627) File Number 211861: Relaying water main. (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $0. Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $340,000). The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $360,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2024 construction season.

 

11th Aldermanic District

 

W. Oklahoma Ave. - S. 61st St. to S. 72nd St. (SM499200006) File Number 221123: Installing Bioswales. (Nonassessable Water Quality Fund -- $10,000 additional funding). The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $185,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2024 construction season.

 

now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to proceed with said work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
