Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Jurisdictional Transfer Agreement for the maintenance and operation of traffic control signals at West Mill Road and North 60^th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue and South 76^th Street in the City of Milwaukee.

Body

Whereas, The traffic signal at the intersection of West Mill Road and North 64^th Street is under the jurisdiction of Milwaukee County; and

Whereas, The traffic signal at the intersection of West Mill Road and North 64^th Street is located one quarter mile from the traffic signal at West Mill Road and North 60^th Street which is under the jurisdiction of the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, The transfer of jurisdiction of the maintenance and operation of the traffic signal at the intersection of West Mill Road and North 64^th Street to the City of Milwaukee from Milwaukee County will ensure more efficient and effective traffic flow on West Mill Road between North 60^th Street and North 64^th Street; and

Whereas, The traffic signal at the intersection of West Oklahoma Avenue and South 76^th Street is under the jurisdiction of the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, The traffic signal at the intersection of West Oklahoma Avenue and South 76^th Street is located on two major traffic signal systems on West Oklahoma Avenue and South 76^th Street which are under the jurisdiction of the Milwaukee County; and

Whereas, The transfer of jurisdiction of the maintenance and operation of the traffic signal at the intersection of West Oklahoma Avenue and South 76^th Street to the Milwaukee County from the City of Milwaukee will ensure more efficient and effective traffic flow on West Oklahoma Avenue and South 76^th Street; and

Whereas, The transfer of the jurisdiction of both signals will occur effective upon the commencement of paving work at the intersection of West Oklahoma Avenue and South 76^th Street, scheduled for April 2007; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works and Comptroller are authorized to execute an agreement for the jurisdictional transfer for the maintenance and operation of the traffic signal at the intersection of West Mill Road and North 64^th Street to the City of Milwaukee and for the jurisdictional transfer for the maintenance and operation of the traffic signal at the intersection of West Oklahoma Avenue and South 76^th Street to Milwaukee County from the City of Milwaukee; and, be it

Further Resolved, The agreement will go into effect upon the commencement of paving work at the intersection of West Oklahoma Avenue and South 76^th Street, scheduled for April 2007.
