Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a MORI: Enhancing Outreach for Disparately Impacted Communities Grant from the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment as a subrecipient from Medical College of Wisconsin.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Fire Department to accept and fund the MORI: Enhancing Outreach for Disparately Impacted Communities Grant from the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment as a subrecipient from Medical College of Wisconsin in the amount of $86,206.  This is an additional funding source for Milwaukee Fire Department’s Community Paramedic Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) Milwaukee Overdose Response Initiative (MORI) Programs.  The focus of this grant is to enhance efforts in designated focus areas by integrating social workers into the MIH team.   

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible to accept grant funds from the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin (AHW) Endowment and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc to enhance MORI response efforts by integrating social workers into the MIH team; and

 

Whereas, AHW and MIH MORI desire to integrate social workers with expertise in substance abuse to address additional social determinants of health such as respite housing, food insecurity and mental health; and

 

Whereas, MIH MORI will establish protocols for social workers to conduct assessments and interventions, partner with local agencies and organizations for referrals and monitor referral patterns and services utilization; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 7/1/2024 to 6/30/2026 would cost $86,206 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2025 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Project fund, the following amount for the project titled MORI: Enhancing Outreach for Disparately Impacted Communities:

And to create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted through the Fire Department which is authorized to expend from the amount budgeted, sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budgets and incur costs consistent with the award date.
