Resolution authorizing the purchase of equipment, material, and services for maintaining the Building Fire Life/Safety Computerized Systems.  (Facilities Development and Management Section)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the supply, installation, and maintenance of equipment and material for the operation and maintenance for the Building Fire Life/Safety Computerized Systems by Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. to provide compatibility of equipment and undivided responsibility for maintenance and servicing the equipment.
Body
Whereas, The Facilities Development and Management Section has Building Fire Life/Safety Computerized Systems in the Zeidler Municipal Building, City Hall, 809 Broadway Building, and many outlying buildings; and
 
Whereas, Alterations and modifications made to the smoke detectors, strobic lights, and alarm systems in these buildings due to office remodelings and systems updating will require changes in the controls for these systems and the monitoring done by the Building Fire Life/Safety Computerized systems; and
 
Whereas, The Building Fire Life/Safety Computerized Systems were installed and are serviced by Siemens Building Technologies, Inc.; and
 
Whereas, It would be in the best interests of the City of Milwaukee to procure the equipment, materials, and services necessary to make changes in the operation and for maintenance of the computerized systems from Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. to ensure compatibility of equipment and undivided responsibility for operation of the system; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works be authorized and directed as being in the best interests of the City of Milwaukee to procure the equipment, materials, and services necessary to make required changes to the Building Fire Life/Safety Computerized Systems from Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. during 2004; and be it
 
Further Resolved, That the costs to procure the equipment, materials, and services shall be charged against funds already budgeted for smoke detectors, strobic lights, and alarm alterations and modifications.
