Title

Substitute resolution relating to the Litter Control Task Force.

Analysis

Through authority granted by the Common Council on September 22, 2000, the Litter Control Task Force was created and authorized to submit a report of its recommendations to the Common Council by March 1, 2001.  This resolution changes the report-submission date to July 1, 2001 and, upon review of the report by the Steering and Rules Committee, the term of the task force may be extended to oversee its recommendations."

Body

Whereas, The Litter Control Task Force, an 11-member task force composed of city officials, city employes and citizens, was established by Common Council File Number 000607, adopted on September 22, 2000, to examine litter issues on a city-wide basis; and

Whereas, The final "Resolved" clause in said resolution states that the task force shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the Common Council by March 1, 2001, and, upon submission of the report, automatically be dissolved; and

Whereas, Due to the unusually large amount of snow received in December, the Department of Public Works was unable to fully devote its staff to service on the task force; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works serves as a valuable source of information as a task force member; and

Whereas, The task force wishes to delay the submittal of a report of its findings and recommendations to the Common Council to July 1, 2001 so that all members of the task force may be fully involved in its recommendations; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the final "Further Resolved" Clause of Common Council File Number 000607 is deleted and the following inserted in lieu thereof:

"Further Resolved, That the task force shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the Common Council by July 1, 2001, and, upon review of the report by the Steering and Rules Committee, the term of the task force may be extended to oversee its recommendations."
