Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a 2002 Vehicle Miles of Travel Monitoring Grant. (Infrastructure Services Division)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to apply for, accept and fund a 2002 Vehicle Miles of Travel Monitoring Grant project from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in the amount of $42,971. The purpose of the project is to collect traffic count data to monitor traffic flow patterns in the City of Milwaukee.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to provide expanded monitoring of roadway usage levels and travel characteristics in the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2002 would cost $42,971 and would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is authorized and the Department of Public Works shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit Funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2002 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects Fund the following amounts for the program/project titled 2002 Vehicle Miles of Travel Monitoring Project:

2. Create a Special Revenue Fund – Grant and Aid Projects and the necessary Project/Grant ChartField Values at the Project, Segment, Phase and/or Activity Levels; and to budget to the Project, Segment, Phase or Activity level the amount required under the grant agreement; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Department of Public Works, which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specific purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2002 grant budget funds for training and out-of-town travel by departmental staff.
